In its first century, the Royal Commission has produced more than 55 major publications. A complete inventory of the varied non-ecclesiastical and non-military remains of Glamorgan, prepared by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. The range of material in Glamorgan offers a unique opportunity to explore an eventful period in history, In all, over 500 monuments are described under ten separate sections: platform houses, long-huts and homesteads, moated sites, medieval houses, deserted and shrunken villages, monastic granges, field systems, rabbit warrens and pillow mounds, roads and miscellanea. As well as a general introduction to the medieval history of the county, each section has its own intoduction detailing the morphology and history of each particular type of monument. The book's many illustrations are accompanied by exhaustive commentary and description.
